Sawdust City’s brew #1000 is OG Lone Prime IPA

Gravenhurst – Sawdust City Brewing Co. is celebrating their 1000th brew with the release of Lone Prime Original IPA – a nod to the first ever Lone Pine IPA recipe.

Lone Prime is brewed according to the original recipe for our flagship beer, Lone Pine IPA. First brewed on my friend Ian MacNaughtan’s stove back in 2010, this beer certainly has changed over the years. More malt forward, deeper in colour and utilizing more bittering and boil hops, Lone Prime is definitely an ‘old school’ IPA,” explains Sam Corbeil, brewmaster at Sawdust City Brewing.

The first commercial batch of Lone Pine IPA – brewed at Niagara College Teaching Brewery – was released December 21, 2011 at now defunct Burger Bar in Toronto.

The new Lone Prime Original IPA, “pours a deep, rich red with big dank, piney aromas of northwest US hops,” Corbeil notes. “Much more malt forward than our current version of Lone Pine, it boasts loads of crystal malts, laying a heavy base to balance the excessive bittering hops used throughout the boil.”

“We’ve been brewing here in Muskoka since June 2014. In that time we’ve released over 200 unique brands, packaged over 2.8 million cans and lovingly produced 1000 brews,” adds Corbeil. “Even the tallest trees are only as strong as their roots. And that’s why we’re going back to our roots to celebrate the 1000th brew at Sawdust City Brewing Company.”

Lone Prime Original IPA launches Thursday October 19, 2017 at the brewery.
