LCBO reaches tentative agreement, averting 2013 strike

Ontario’s LCBO announced today that a tentative agreement was reached by its 6,700 OPSEU-represented employees, averting a strike just prior to the Victoria Day long weekend.

Terms were of the agreement were not disclosed.

The agreement must also be approved by members of the LCBO Board of Directors and by the Government of Ontario through an Order-in-Council, indicated the announcement.

“LCBO thanks the public for its patience during negotiations,” said LCBO President & CEO Bob Peter. “We believe this agreement is fair to employees, is in the best interest of taxpayers and will enable LCBO to continue to provide responsible, quality service to customers and licensees across the province.”

Friday, May 17 was the deadline originally set for a strike decision.
